What Is a Donor Pass for a Drug Test?

A donor pass is the order confirmation you show at the collection site so the staff can find your test. With Pact's $40 10-panel, you pay online, Pact registers the order with Quest Diagnostics, and Pact emails the donor pass, usually within one business day (Monday to Friday). You bring the pass and a government-issued photo ID to a Quest patient service center. Nothing is paid at the site. This guide covers what the pass is for, what to bring, how scheduling works, and what to do if something goes wrong.

What the donor pass does

The pass tells the collection site which test was ordered and for whom. Without it, the site may not be able to find the order. Quest's donor instructions say that not having the confirmation, on paper or on your phone, may lead to delays or a full reschedule, and another test may need to be given depending on the employer's requirements.

You don't need to print it. Quest says if you received a confirmation by email, you can show the email on your phone. Pact's page says the same: printed or on your phone both work.

What happens when you check in

Show the pass and your ID. Quest says its collector will walk each donor through the whole collection. The collector will ask you to empty your pockets, take off outer clothing like a jacket or hat, leave bags behind, and wash your hands. You don't list your medicines at the site. Quest says the collector won't note prescription drugs on the custody form. Our guide to what to expect at a drug test covers each step.

Where to go

Pact's tests are collected at Quest. On Quest's location search, choose "Employer Drug and Alcohol" and enter your zip code. Go to a Quest patient service center (listed as "Quest Diagnostics"). If the only sites near you are marked "(Preferred)," call Pact before you order. Our guide to finding a drug test location explains the search.

If you will be tested in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island, call Pact at 901-666-6970 before you order.

Appointments and walk-ins

You can walk in, but appointments come first. Quest says scheduling is important because an appointment takes priority over a walk-in and allows enough time for the collection. Quest also says donors usually have shorter waits in the afternoon.

Quest's FAQ explains how to book on QuestDiagnostics.com: choose Make an Appointment, enter your location, choose drug screen, then urine, and pick a site, date and time. Your donor pass email also explains how to schedule.

Paying at the site

Your Pact test is paid at checkout, so nothing is paid at the Quest site. Quest says payment is not required at its patient service centers.

Be careful with anyone who asks you to pay for a drug test with a prepaid card. Quest's own site warns that this is generally a sign of a fraudulent job offer. If something seems off, call Pact before you pay anyone.

How long the pass stays valid

Pact doesn't publish a fixed expiration for donor passes. If you can't test soon after you get the pass, or you're not sure yours is still good, ask Pact before you go. Call 901-666-6970 or email support@pactcompliance.com. Pact follows up by email the same business day.

The same goes for a lost pass, a typo in your name, or a site that can't find your order. Contact Pact rather than placing a new order. All sales are final, so a second order is a second purchase.

After the test

Quest says that once the test is done, it can't give information about specimen status or the result. On a Pact order, the result is reported to the person tested and to the employer or program named at checkout. If the lab result isn't negative, a medical review officer will contact you about prescriptions before the result is final. Our guide to what to expect at a drug test covers the collection itself.

Common questions

Do I need to print my donor pass?

No. Quest says you can show an emailed confirmation on your phone. A printed copy works too.

Can I walk in with a donor pass?

Yes, but Quest says appointments take priority over walk-ins. Booking ahead usually means a shorter wait.

How long is a donor pass good for?

Pact doesn't publish a fixed time. If you can't test soon, ask Pact at 901-666-6970 before you go.

Do I pay anything at Quest?

No. Pact's $40 price is paid at checkout and covers the collection, the lab test and MRO review. Quest says payment isn't required at its patient service centers.

What if I lose my donor pass?

Search your email first, including spam. If you can't find it, contact Pact by phone or email. Don't place a second order, since all sales are final.

Can Quest tell me my result?

No. Quest says it can't give specimen status or results after the test. On a Pact order, contact Pact.
