How it works
Four steps
- Order online. Secure checkout by Stripe. Enter the full legal name and email of the person being checked.
- Checkr invitation. We set the check up with Checkr, which emails the person a secure link.
- Details and consent. They enter their details and sign the disclosure and authorization on Checkr's site. Nothing runs before they consent.
- Report. Checkr completes the report; it goes to the person and to the employer or program named at checkout.
Questions
Before you order
Which package do I need?
Standard covers four national database searches. Premium adds a county criminal search covering the last 7 years and a FACIS Level 3 healthcare sanctions search. If an employer or program tells you what it needs, order the package that covers it.
Can I get a refund?
No. All sales are final: there are no refunds once you pay.
What is FACIS Level 3?
A search of a healthcare sanctions database that brings together federal and state exclusion, debarment and disciplinary sources, used for people who work in healthcare.
How does the person being checked give consent?
Checkr emails them a link. Before the check runs, they enter their own details (legal name, date of birth, Social Security number and address history) on Checkr's secure site and sign the disclosure and authorization.
Who gets the report?
The person checked can see their own report through Checkr. If you name an employer or program at checkout, the report goes to them as well.
Are there extra court fees?
Some county courts charge a fee to search their records. If a search you order hits one, we'll tell you before adding it.
What if something on the report is wrong?
The person checked can dispute it with Checkr, the consumer reporting agency, under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. A Summary of Your Rights Under the FCRA.
I'm an employer. What else do I have to do?
An employer that uses a background report in a hiring decision has its own duties under the Fair Credit Reporting Act and some state and city laws, such as giving the person a copy of the report and a notice before taking adverse action. Our background check guide covers the basics; this isn't legal advice.
